The ZHIJING TiN Coated Zigzag Film Cutting Knife is a surface-engineered replacement blade for the film cutting stations of high-speed snack food packaging machines. When polyethylene and polypropylene webs are cut at high line speeds, frictional heat softens the steel edge and makes polymer residues stick to the knife face, gradually building up until the teeth no longer penetrate the film cleanly and the line must be stopped for cleaning. This knife solves both problems at once: the M2 high speed steel substrate is hardened to HRC 60-68 and precision ground into a sharp zigzag profile, then coated with titanium nitride using a physical vapor deposition process. The golden TiN layer is extremely hard, chemically stable and slippery, so film melts and seal residues slide off instead of adhering.
The result is a zigzag knife that keeps its tooth sharpness longer and stays clean between scheduled maintenance, which translates directly into fewer unscheduled stops, fewer start-up rejects and more salable packages per shift. Because the coating preserves the fine geometry of every tooth, the tear-off serration on the film remains consistent from the first package to the last, which matters on modern high-speed lines where even a single misshapen tooth can cause a web break. When the edge eventually needs attention, the blade can be reground and recoated, extending the service life of the steel body through multiple complete cycles.

This TiN coated zigzag knife is designed for film cutting and bag cutting stations on snack food vertical and horizontal form-fill-seal machines, biscuit and cracker wrapping lines, candy packaging equipment and general bag-making machines running polyethylene, polypropylene or laminated sealable webs. It is especially valuable on lines that run frequently at speeds close to the machine limit, where heat and polymer adhesion shorten the life of uncoated knives, and in plants producing film with high slip additives that tend to smear onto steel surfaces. The same coating technology can be applied to straight film cutting knives, perforation blades and sealing jaw cutters across the packaging hall. Send our engineers your film recipe, line speed and original blade drawing, and we will specify the correct coating and tooth profile for your production targets.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceCoated zigzag teeth are protected with soft interleaving and rigid edge guards before packing in carton boxes or plywood cases, so the coating and tooth tips arrive in factory condition. ZHIJING operates an ISO9001 quality management system covering spectrometer verification of incoming M2 steel, hardness confirmation after heat treatment, coating thickness measurement and final tooth geometry inspection. Material certificates, coating reports and pre-production samples are available on request. OEM and ODM orders are welcome, and our team provides fast technical support for blade selection, installation, regrinding and recoating to help packaging plants maximize output and minimize cost per package.
